Schmettgala name was coined in 2022 whilst I booked 10mm+ in foreign exchange transactions at the 7th largest investment bank in North America.

After my first event featuring 20+ Sales, Trading, and Investment Banking Analysts from 5 banks at Spin NY, my colleague John referred to the experience as a SCHMETTGALA

Whilst drafting detailed high yield bond trading strategies, I was offered a part time job as a subcontractor for VP Promotions, bringing in crowds of 20-30 guests to Somewhere Nowhere, Lavo, Tao, PHD on Friday nights. There are learned the ins-and outs of the nightclub business, servicing hundreds of clients.

Thereafter, in the summer of 2022, I rotated onto a CMBS Real Estate Financing desk at BMO Capital Markets and resigned with the intention pivoting into consulting micro-enterprises in Colombia through the Peace Corps. Long story short, no desk at BMO ever gave me a full time offer so i resigned after 15 months. In autumn, I then reneged my peace corps offer, after being talked out of it by friends in the finance industry and started serving them via freelance event planning their birthdays & networking events.  

I became known for hosting events in which guests from diverse backgrounds gathered to exchange market color, hobbies, and adventurous travel stories—while also finding love, exchanging referrals, and dancing the night away to EDM. Schmettgala Events was created in 2023 after we were contracted as Secondary PR by a powerful hospitality group that owned several restaurants in Flatiron. Schmettgala Events made introductions to ownership & worked side by side with Rose Gold Entertainment to create a PR activation event to complement Primary PR provider Berk Comms's Media Relations & Celebrity Partnership Services, improving Journey NYC’s SEO, making 2mm+ digital impressions, and bringing in the most people of all time since opening 270+! To make it happen I, Benjamin Woods, literally personally invited over 1,000 people and wore a lot of proverbial hats such as host, marketer, event organizer, decorator, and cinematographer.

In 2024, I rebranded Schmettgala Events into Schmettgala Productions whilst in New York Film Academy's filmmaking program. From this experience, I learned that cinematography is one of the most valuable skills in this digital world and attained proficiency at night school alongside full-time analyst/associates that worked prestigious jobs at investment banks. Following such, I was admitted to Columbia Strategic Communication Masters Degree program where I learned from the best in the PR & Advertising business via case studies, pitches, speech writing, and conferences. Following 3 months of virtual interviewing at Jennifer Prosek’s PR & IR firm, I came to the realization that it’s my time to scale my company and follow a similar path as she did whilst at Columbia graduate school and originate accounts.

I changed my status to that of a part-time student and provided marketing services for bespoke business sales & commercial leasing brokerage in exchange for mentorship & guidance. During my apprenticeship, I filed the business in the state of New York as a LLC that provides Advertising/PR/Consulting Services. After our clients work with Schmettgala Productions, their SEO drastically improves and they trend digitally as well as in IRL. Schmettgala Productions has skills, capabilities, and abilities to perform Audio/Visual editing, set design, screenwriting, casting of actors, cinematography in a timely manner having worked New York Fashion Week and Yale School of Management Conference.

My business predominately operates as an Advertising/PR/Consulting Agency and will work in tandem with other Public Relations & Advertising Agencies such as Prosek and Edelman to ideate & execute savvily crafting comm narrative development marketing campaigns; however, we still are receptive to providing our initial services of event booking, planning, and production services.
